Seniors 3,4 and 5 Materials list

This list is for incoming MATSEC Senior 3 students and for Seniors 4 and 5 already on the course. Materials only need to be topped up annually.

BASIC SUPPLIES

Pencils: HB, 2B, 4B, 6B

Stationery:

  • Pencil Sharpener
  • Rubber
  • 30cm Ruler
  • Scissors
  • UHU stick
  • PVA glue
  • Masking tape 1″
  • A3 clear book display file (Senior 3 and 4 only, this contains clear pages to insert coursework)
  • A3 Professional Display case for the Final Project. (Senior 5)

Materials:

  • Colouring pencils
  • Graphite sticks (Art shop, to include a range up to 9B)
  • Maped Gem markers ( this brand please!)
  • Thick Wax crayons (box of 12)
  • Thick Permanent Black marker pen
  • Set of beginners Acrylic paints.

Paper:

  • Black spiral bound A3 journal (see below)
  • A3 Watercolour pad, (300gsm) (gsm is the weight of the paper)

It is IMPORTANT that students have good quality paper to work on if we are going to have successful results that inspire and motivate them further. Students will work mostly in their sketchbooks for random painting experiments but when we create a FINAL PIECE we want to do it on decent paper that doesn’t wrinkle.
Paints:

  • Faber Castell student Watercolour set, box of 12 OR, Reeves have a nice quality too.
  • Jovi poster paints in  a set of 12
  • Beginners set of Acrylics

Equipment:

  • Paintbrushes (Taklon round, sizes 6 and 10, Taklon flat , sizes 4 and 10).

ART APRON OR OLD SHIRT (long enough to cover clothes) + PIECE OF CLOTH TO WIPE EQUIPMENT CLEAN!
